Crossing guard.

I am officially losing my brain.  We got a notice a month or so ago, that the city needed substitute crossing guards, and I had heard a friend say once that she did it and paid for a family trip once a year, so I thought hey this could be a fun deal since my boys are starting school.  Well, I sent in the stuff, and was still a bit unsure.  Then I met with chief of police at my house and all was good, then I did training, and just kept thinking what am I doing...  I don't really have time for this.  Then I committed to 10 days, after school, so my kids would have to sit in the car while I did it.  Then I realized that I had made a very poor decision...  did I not realize that I had 3 kids and 4 come january, adn the oldest is...  well, 4!  So I took the proper steps, and finally pulled the plug on the whole thing.  But it wasn't easy.  I tend to say yes to everything no matter the cost.  But I am learning that I have to be a mom first and my no motto is...  Protect Motherhood.  Meaning, I need to put my family first and anything above and beyond needs to be in moderation, and not sacrifice my time as a mother, especially during these years, that I know will pass all too quickly...  at least that is what everyone keeps saying... :)  So, I put my vest on reese and took a picture of my official vest, before I returned it, as evidence of insanity, and remembrance of this event.

Cragun Family trip

We spent the weekend with all the Cragun family up at the Homestead in Midway.  It was a lot of fun.  So much that I took a grand total of 3 pictures.  I kept forgetting my camera.  I will blame half of that on pregnancy brain.  But we have a great time when we are together.  We swam, and shopped and spa'd, and even did a craft.  Creative Jen had brought each of the kids first letter in their name and then a bunch of scrap book paper, and the kids mog poge'd  paper all over it.  I will get pix of them and post them later.  We had a great time.  Thanks grandma Cragun.  Oh ya and one of the 3 pix is of a bat we found outside our door the first night.  Pretty scary hu.  But it wasn't there long.  Jennifer was pretty sure that she saw a magpie fly off with it later the next afternoon.

A duck adventure...

Last week we had a feed the ducks day.  Reese was not sure what to think about the whole thing.  She didn't really like them getting close to her at all.  Plus she wanted to eat the bread.   The boys of course loved it.  But we did get more than we bargained for this trip to the pond.  Just down from us there was a guy fishing and he called to me, and asked if I had a cell phone on me.  I said no, for the quick answer, and then he started saying that we really needed to call animal control immediately, and then out came a big MOOOOOO.  My first thought was 'what the heck', he is crazy.  Then he told me that the cow across the way had a broken leg.  So I said, I do have one in my car, I can go call.  So I of course...  gathered the kids, crazy guy, and walked to the car and called disbatch, and they alerted animal control.  Then I told the guy they were coming.  He continued at a rated of about every 30 seconds to moooo to the cow, I guess to let it know that help was on the way.  Then he got inpatient after about 3 minutes...  no kidding, and went to the street and started to flag down any car with a symbol on the side.  It really was very humorous.  I had to sit back and watch the thing play out for a bit.  So finally animal control shows up, much to all of our relief.  They pull out the binoc's to check out the brand and figure out whose cow it was.  You can imagine how this appeased the empathetic moooo man.  He was not very happy that they weren't canoeing across the water to rescue the poor animal.  By this time the kids were ready to go, so I can't give you a good ending, but it was definitely a high point of the duck feeding adventure.

School Days

The boys teachers came to the house to meet them the other day.  They are so excited for school, and to get started with all the fun.  Porters teachers name is Rachelle, and Kael's is Terra.  They are both perfect for both of their personalities.  A new adventure for us all.  Wish us luck.

New German Buggy

I have this great friend in our new area, Kristi Anderson, and she gave me the coolest stroller ever.  She bought it from another neighbor who had brought it back from Germany, so it is the real thing.  I absolutely love it.  It is super smooth, and I can rock the baby as we walk.  I tested it out on reese today at nap time, and sure enough, she was asleep in minutes.  LOVED IT!  I can't wait to try it on the little bambino.
Thanks Kristi!

Iron-on's

Pillowcase Wednesday.  So, I bought a bunch of iron- on's a while ago.  We used a few and added fun stuff to solid color undies, and white tee's.  So I thought we would do something a little different.  We pulled out a few pillowcases, and let them decorate.  The loved it, and the pillowcases have been a big hit on luring them into bed.  They love them.

Zoo Fun

We went to the Zoo on Tuesday with some good friends.  Rachel, Aleah, and Kallee.  We had a great time, despite the heat.  The kids were all great and really enjoyed the animals.  My boys of course loved the alligators.  Aleah was amazed by about everything, childish wonder is such a precious thing.  Reese and Kallee were just content to be along for the ride.  I was so happy to be able to spend the day with Rach, it has been a while, and she is such a wonderful friend!

Weekend in Midway

We spent the weekend at my parents condo in Midway.  It was a lot of fun.  The kids and I went up on Thursday with my mom, Sara and her kids and my cousins, Rachel and Becca.  We shopped at the outlets for a while, and then we went into Park City and rode the Alpine Coaster and Slide.  The kids had a ball.  Then we went into Heber to the Thursday night farmers market, and enjoyed dinner.  Friday we went swimming and played all day.  Then everyone left but us, and daddy and uncle blake came up that night.  The following day (saturday) we got up, and went fishing at the wasatch mountain state park.  It is perfect for the kids.  We caught 4 fish and kept 1.  He was really big and porter was determined to have him for dinner.  So, dad cleaned his first fish, since mom guaranteed a bad experience if I had to clean it while pregnant.  Then we went into park city for lunch, we ate at a little mexican place along main.  It was yummy.  On the way over, we saw a 2 big male moose.  We had a great weekend.  We came home late saturday night and enjoyed the evening rain on sunday and the beautiful rainbow.  It was a great weekend.  You can imagine how exhausted the kids are after all that fun!  So today is a low key day and a put the house together afternoon.

Saturday swimming

On Saturday we had a family meeting and decided that we all needed a fun day.  So we put out the options of what to do...  Fishing, Horse back riding, swimming.  It was a toss up between fishing and swimming, but swimming took over when we went outside to test the heat.
So we headed to the pool, and swam from 12:00 noon, till 5:30 p.m.  It was a lot of fun!  All the kids went on the water slide.  I wish I could have gotten a picture of Reese coming down.  The first few times, she was scared to death.  But I guess after that she figured that she would live through it and she was silent the rest of the rides.  So, not sure if it was fun, or just endurance.
